New Events in St. Augustine
The Corazon Cinema & Cafe is having its Grand Opening on Friday September 25, 2014 |
They are however already open to the public! |
The Corazon Cinema & Cafe had a silent opening, Monday September 22, 2014 |
Emily Grubb, Sophomore at Flagler College (left), and Kelvin Young are both Food Runners at the Corazon. They were the first smiling faces to greet me at the door. |
The menu is filled with original recipes, either named after movie stars or people who helped create the item! |
This was a sample of what they are going to be sampling for their big opening. It is toasted peanut butter and honey! |
They opened up to the public silently without publicity to get the place running comfortably before their Grand Opening with the Mayor. |
They do not have servers, but they have food runners who will take tickets and bring the food to the tables with the matching ticket. |
The Corazon's whole restaurant, movie theater and bar is cinematically themed. |

Back to front view of the larger movie theater room. They will be able to dine-in as well as enjoy a film. On Saturday's the stage will have live entertainment! |
"I felt like Madonna the material girl"- Chef Tammy Abel told me as she was describing how she and her husband Joe put together all of the curtains in every room. |
A view of the smaller movie and dining theater, as well as more drapery. Joe Abel told me that they will be streaming live football games in here! |
Another view from the smaller movie and dining theater. |

The logo on the back of employees shirts. |
They made the giant chalkboard themselves! |
All of the chairs, as well as the bar itself were handcrafted! |
Overhead lighting at the bar. |
Lion carved candy bar station. Snacks for the movies! |
Up close carved lion. |
Specials with a zap of color! |
They are very proud of the chandelier that hangs in the nook by the door! |
The chandelier is crystal, and the color reflecting off of it is from the natural light coming from the window that hangs below it. |
If you do not want to sit at the bar or in a theater, they offer limited window seating with a view. Above this hangs the crystal chandelier. |

People at Work Photos- AnnaRuth Bernhardt
AnnaRuth Bernhardt, 20, cutting her shirts for her business "Style with Sassafras" |
Bernhardt designs her own shirts out of old T-shirts. |
All of Bernhardt's shirts are cut freehanded. |
Bernhardt styles, and pulls the incisions to create a design on the shirt. |
Each shirt is unique, some are primarily focused on the cut designs, others have more emphasis on the printed design displayed on the fronts of the shirts. |
All of Bernhardt's designs are done free hand with a bleach pen. |
Bernhardt loves "Do it Yourself" projects, especially when it entails making something she already owns more unique. |
"Style with Sassafras" is sold through her blog, and at the local shop "The Closet" |
She can make these shirts in the comfort of her own home, at her leisure. |
She comes up with the designs from her imagination, and also from finding different shirt ideas online. Then she makes them freehanded. |
Bernhardt takes something mundane and ordinary and transforms it to something unique and interesting |
Her designs are original, she wants to have her own "style" |
She takes at least a half hour per shirt, depending on the designs they can go for hours. |
She usually charges around $15 per shirt |
Each finished product is put on her blog www.stylewithsassafras.blogspot.com |
She makes all different sizes to fit everyone differently |
Every shirt is done by hand and with thought. No two shirts are the same. There are different colors, sizes, designs and cuts. She weaves the cuts differently every time. |
