Emily DeMerchant, 20, is a deaf education major. She spends her time practicing when ever she can.

DeMerchant found that she had a love for this language when she was in high school.

Out of the two schools that offered deaf education, she chose Flagler College for the price and scenery.

DeMerchant is Double Majoring in Deaf Education and Elementary Education, she also has an Environmental Science Minor.

DeMerchant is a dedicated worker and spends hours of her free time to better her education.

DeMerchant took time to give me a closer look into how to sign and how facial expressions are key when signing.

Being bi-lingual is a very coveted trait in professions. DeMerchant stands out with this education and ability.

DeMerchants movements are so swift, so quick that even if you do not understand sign language you can appreciate her movements, and see that the story she is telling is important and beautiful. 

DeMerchant plans on continuing her education and her ultimate goal is to move on to be a deaf education teacher.

New Events in St. Augustine

The Corazon Cinema & Cafe is having its Grand Opening on Friday September  25, 2014 

They are however already open to the public!

The Corazon Cinema & Cafe had a silent opening, Monday September 22, 2014

Emily Grubb, Sophomore at Flagler College (left), and Kelvin Young are both Food Runners at the Corazon. They were the first smiling faces to greet me at the door. 

The menu is filled with original recipes, either named after movie stars or people who helped create the item!

This was a sample of what they are going to be sampling for their big opening. It is toasted peanut butter and honey! 

They opened up to the public silently without publicity to get the place running comfortably before their Grand Opening with the Mayor.

They do not have servers, but they have food runners who will take tickets and bring the food to the tables with the matching ticket. 

The Corazon's whole restaurant, movie theater and bar is cinematically themed. 

Karla Wagner- Owner (far left), Emily Grubb- Food Runner (second from left), Kelvin Young- Food Runner (middle), Joe Abel- Manager (second from right), and Tammy Abel- Chef (far right) are some of the staff that puts together the Corazon. The Abel's helped to design and create some of the furniture in the establishment.

"I felt like Madonna the material girl"- Chef Tammy Abel told me as she was describing how she and her husband Joe put together all of the curtains in every room.

They are very proud of the chandelier that hangs in the nook by the door!

The chandelier is crystal, and the color reflecting off of it is from the natural light coming from the window that hangs below it.

If you do not want to sit at the bar or in a theater, they offer limited window seating with a view.  Above this hangs the crystal chandelier.
